Abstract

The datacenter power consumption is increasing rapidly because of the scalability and dynamic provisioning of resources. The degradation in performance, impact of environment are the major issues in data center for the increase in power consumption. The power consumed by unused host machine to be switched off, by consolidating the virtual machine dynamically to save energy in datacenter. In this paper we have compared four different virtual machine placement algorithm for the energy consumption, number of VM migration, SLA violation (SLAV), performance degradation due to Migration (PDM), SLA violation Time per active host (SLATAH) and Energy SLA violation (ESV). To evaluate the algorithm we have used the CloudSim simulation toolkit and real-world workload traces of planet lab VMs for our experiment.
